The Vault

What exactly is Sarv Vault?
The first reference hardware built for the Sarv Grid — a small, quiet appliance for your home or business that runs AI locally: an assistant, a private data store, and home automation that works even when the internet is down. It's a managed device: Sarv keeps the software and models current. Optionally, its spare capacity can join the Grid as a verified node.
Why would I buy one if it never earns me a penny?
That's our killer question, and the product is designed to answer it: private models with fast local inference, family memory on your own data, secure backup with your keys, and an assistant that can't be switched off remotely. If the privacy-and-convenience case isn't enough on its own, the network doesn't deserve to exist. The pilot measures retention at £0 earnings precisely to find out.
How much will it cost?
Nothing is priced yet. Illustrative example economics we publish: hardware around £1,200* to early owners (below an estimated £1,800* build cost) plus a £45/month* subscription for software, models and updates. Every figure is a hypothesis until the pilot measures reality.
Does it work offline?
That's the design: the core experience is local. Models, your data and your automations live on the device. Internet is only needed for updates, and for Grid work if you opt in.

The Grid & earnings

What is the Sarv Grid?
The trust and orchestration layer at the heart of the company. It verifies each node before it earns work, isolates every workload while it runs, zeroises every trace when it finishes, and accounts for every job — turning the unused capacity of opted-in Vaults into compute that businesses can buy for delay-tolerant work like embeddings, batch inference, media processing and scheduled agents.
How is this different from Akash, io.net or Render?
Those networks sell distributed compute — raw spare capacity, cheap. Sarv's question is different: how do you safely run sensitive AI inference on a computer owned by a stranger? Attested hardware, signed workloads, sealed enclaves, zeroisation and auditable settlement — the trust layer — is the answer we're building, and the part none of them provides.
How much could my Vault earn?
Honestly: we don't know, and nobody in distributed compute can credibly tell you otherwise. Our illustrative modelling suggests £0–60/month* to owners depending on utilisation — but these are hypotheses, and earnings are a consequence of the network working, never the reason to buy a Vault. The 100-Vault pilot exists to measure real utilisation, real electricity cost and real willingness to share.
Do I have to join the Grid?
No. It's opt-in, always, with three modes — Private (never shares), Balanced, and Full. The Vault is a complete product without it. Most of our trust architecture exists for people who never switch sharing on.
What workloads will never run on my Vault?
Anything anonymous or unsigned, anything latency-critical, and anything co-resident with other customers' jobs if you choose private-workload policy. Every workload class is designed to be reviewed and cryptographically signed by Sarv before it can touch a single device.

Privacy & security

Can Sarv read my data?
The design goal is no — architecturally. Your personal data is planned to be encrypted with keys held on your device, in dedicated secure silicon. We manage software and models, not your content. The intent is that Sarv couldn't read your data even if compelled. That claim carries the same evidence bar as everything else on the Trust page.
If a company's job runs on my Vault, can it see my files?
The architecture is designed to make that impossible: Grid jobs run in an isolated enclave — separate memory, no architectural path to your household environment, zeroised when the job completes — with separation enforced below the operating system, not by software permissions. Has any of this been independently audited?
Not yet — and we say that plainly. External security audit, published attestation and a bug bounty are named gating milestones before enterprise workloads ship. We'd rather be checked than believed.

Energy

Is a distributed network actually greener?
Not automatically — and we don't claim it is by default. It's greener only if scheduling is energy-aware: running work when power is cheap and low-carbon, using local generation behind the meter, and ducking peak demand. That's why energy-aware orchestration is core to the design, and why true electricity cost per job is a pilot measurement rather than an assumption.
Will it raise my electricity bill?
Grid work is scheduled to your cheapest, cleanest windows, and any earnings calculation nets off electricity cost. In illustrative modelling, electricity costs around £19/month* against £60/month* owner earnings at target utilisation — but again, hypotheses until measured. You can also cap or disable sharing entirely.

The company

Is Sarv a real company?
Sarv is a concept becoming a company — this site, the film and the waitlist are Phase 0: proving demand before hardware ships. We're deliberately transparent about what's real (the design, the timing, the plan) and what's still an experiment (every £ figure, the Grid's economics).
How do I get involved?
Join the network — as a future Vault owner, a developer, a design partner with delay-tolerant workloads, or an investor who wants the pilot data before the dream. The door is open at every level.
